Panamarenko has been appointed as the ambassador of the art festival [email protected], a benefit to raise money for the Red Cross Flanders. His wife Eveline Hoorens, who has her own coffee roasting factory, seized the opportunity to create a true Coffee Experience together with Melitta. Jasna Rok added a spark of futurism to the project, in the shape of … clothes for three futuristic coffee ladies who board a spaceship called ‘Ferro Lusto’*, commanded by time traveler Eveline Hoorens. Together they go to the future to show how today’s coffee is made. The process involves a holy trinity, and a centuries-old family secret …
Eveline Hoorens immediately felt something for Panamarenko. Their love, her coffee and his art run like a thread through Jasna Rok’s Panamarenko Coffee Couture. Hoorens Coffee was founded in 1928 by grandfather Jozef Hoorens, who created a real family business where quality rules over quantity.
Panamarenko is an exceptional and unclassifiable figure in contemporary art, who has been described as ‘one of the great creators of the end of the century’. Artist, engineer, poet, but also a physicist, inventor and visionary, he has been exploring space, movement, flight, energy, and the force of gravity for more than thirty years. His work, which merges art and technological experiments, takes many forms: airplanes, flying carpets, cars, flying saucers, submarines and birds. These are all spectacular structures of strange beauty, both playful and inspiring.
*’Ferro Lusto’ is one of Pana’s most famous works; a magnetic spaceship.
